Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre says he has enthusiastically accepted re-appointment as parliamentary secretary to Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan. The Prime Minister’s office made the announcement this week.

Lefebvre was first appointed to the position in August 2018 and said he was proud to serve in that role for more than a year before October’s federal election. He was re-elected in October and is serving his second term at Liberal MP.

“I would like to thank Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his continued confidence in me,” Lefebvre said in a release. “I was immensely proud to promote Canada’s energy, mining and forestry industries in Ottawa and around the world, and I look forward to continuing that important work with Minister O’Regan.”

Lefebvre will continue managing natural resources issues; acting as a liaison within the ministerial and parliamentary caucus; serving as a permanent member of the committees to which he is assigned; and representing the minister.

In appointing Lefebvre, Trudeau said he “has stood up for interest groups concerned with post-secondary institutions, business, seniors, immigrants and job creation.”
