Mining company says it needed more space
Technica Mining has a new home for its headquarters in Lively.
Located at 225 Fielding Rd., the new headquarters has expanded from the previous 8500 square feet to 35,000.
“It was a big jump,” said Mario Grossi, founder and CEO of Technica Mining. “We’re fully set up to repair and fix up our own mining equipment, which we weren’t prepared for in the original building.
“As we transition from construction our equipment changed. We went from scissor trucks and jeeps that were small, to big 40-, 5- tonne trucks, scoops. We didn’t have the facility that we needed.”
Grossi founded Technica Mining – an underground mining and construction contractor company, in 1999.
“We’ve grown to a point where we needed a new footprint, new headquarters,” Grossi said. “It’s been four years in the making. We moved in last year, but I had a bit of an accident, had a bit of a setback for nine months, but now I’m back and we’ve had our grand opening.”
Technica was previously located on Mumford Road.
“We didn’t move that far,” Grossi laughed. “We didn’t want to move that far because we’re so central to all of our clients.”
