Rick Lemieux

President - Rock-Tech

Rick is the President & CEO of Rock-Tech since 1999 after years of working for years with his father to start and operate RDH. He worked as a heavy duty technician and finally General Manager. Rick studied Mechanical Engineering at Mohawk College and has 30 plus years involved primarily with underground mining equipment. He has travelled across Canada and countries such as the United States, Finland, Australia, Chile, Peru and Mexico to develop international markets. Today his primary role and passion with Rock-Tech is marketing and business & product development. Rock-Tech won the Bell Business Excellence Innovation Award in 2014. Rick recently was the lead in building Rock-Tech’s new modern manufacturing plant.

Michael Gribbons

Vice President - Sales and Marketing - Maestro Digital Mine

Michael Gribbons is a Sudbury born entrepreneur. After completing his education at the University of Waterloo for Mechanical Engineering, Michael went on to lead a successful expansion effort for a mid sized distribution company.

After seven years of continuous expansion, Mike yearned for a new challenge that would only be cured by owning his business.

Michael and his wife, Jodi went on to found Synergy Controls Corporation in 1992. Michael and the Synergy team have won many sales awards including 13 “Most Valuable Representative” awards based on total sales in Canada. The achievements are even grander when one understands the small market size that Synergy Controls competes in.

Michael co-founded Maestro Digital Mine in 2012 and has gained entry into over 85 underground mines globally with transformative products that improve productivity, safety while reducing CAPEX and OPEX using IIoT digital technology. Michael and his team have received three awards from:

  • Innovation – Bell Business Awards
  • Judge’s Choice Award – Northern Ontario Business Awards
  • Outstanding Achievement in Commercialization award – Ultra Deep Mining Network

Michael spends equal time in Sudbury and Puerto Vallarta with his wife – Jodi and daughter – Jade.

Alicia Woods

Creator and CEO - Covergalls Workwear

Alicia started working in the mining and supply service sector in 2000 as part of the then family-owned business, Marcotte Mining. There she held a number of positions from administrative to sales and marketing to management while studying business at Cambrian College.

Alicia is also the creator of Covergalls Inc., the Sudbury-designed and Canadian-manufactured coverall tailored specifically for women. The Covergall along with a growing line of women’s workwear designed by Alicia is available by visiting www.covergallsworkwear.com. Alicia lives in Sudbury with her husband and two children.

Dave Rector

Manager of Business Development & Co-operations - Rector Machines

Dave Rector, President and Co-Owner of Rector Machine Works Ltd. a family owned and operated Machine and Fabrication business serving North America for 85 Years.  Dave attended the Marketing/Business Administration Program at George Brown College in Toronto. Upon his return to Sault Ste Marie, he attended Sault College and graduated from the Aviation Machining Program and APR Welding Academy. Dave’s core responsibilities are Operations, Business Development and Community Care.

Jeff Smith

Owner & Executive Vice-President - Manitoulin Group of Companies

Jeff is the owner and Executive Vice-President of the Manitoulin Group of Companies. He is responsible for quality and environmental management systems for the group of companies as well as senior management client contact for many larger customers across Canada. He is also responsible for continuous improvement within Manitoulin Transport across 70 terminals in Canada as well as customs brokerage, global air and ocean freight forwarding, and other related transportation companies within the Group,. He attended the University of Western Ontario with a B.A., Economics and has worked in all aspects of the family business for over 30 years. He is very community-minded, serving as Board Chair or Director on several Not-for-profit Boards. He is married with two daughters and lives in Sudbury.

Marla Trembley

President - Markey Consulting

Marla is the owner and President of Markey Consulting. A bilingual certified Economic Developer, she has over 20 years of experience in community, economic and business development and has worked closely with public and private sector stakeholders throughout the North on numerous initiatives. Well versed on the issues facing rural and northern Ontario, Marla has been directly involved in developing and implementing strategies and solutions to help grow and strengthen businesses and communities in the north.

A number of projects that she has led have received regional and provincial acclaim resulting in the receipt of various awards including the 2006 EDAC award for Best Tourism Marketing Campaign, the Newcomer Champion Award in 2010, the 2011 OTMP Best Tourism Marketing Partnership award, the  Economic Developers Association of Canada Marketing Canada Award in 2015 and again in 2018, the Northern Ontario Business’ Innovative Community Award in both 2011 and 2016 and, most recently, the 2019 Tourism Innovator’s Award for Marketing.

Brad R. Gregorini

President - Norpro

Brad Gregorini is a community-minded entrepreneur born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. Known for his ability to think strategically and see trends and capitalize on them, Gregorini bought Norpro Security in 2013 and has grown it significantly in terms of client base and new product lines since then. He currently sits as Co-Chair on the Algoma Family Services Foundation Board, is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board, is a founding member of the Sault Chapter of the Canadian Italian Business Professionals Association, he is a member of the Northern Ontario SAMSSA  Board and is also a Rotarian. Gregorini actively participates on a number of community advisory councils, including for Sault College’s Police Foundations Program.

As an entrepreneur, Gregorini is interested in improving the business climate in the Sault, and as the father of three girls, he pursues bettering children’s lives s as well as working to improve community safety. He is the recipient of the 2014 Chamber Business Development Award, Judge’s choice 2019 NOBA Award Winner and the 2019 Growth 500 Award.

Eddy Lamontagne

Director of Sales and Business Development - Timmins Mechanical Services

Eddy Lamontagne has spent 39 years in the Mining industry in a number of positions including corporate sales, maintenance supervisor, site planner, to name a few.

He currently is the Director of Sales and Business Development with Timmins Mechanical Services and is responsible for growing the day to day operations of the company including overseeing their new 11,000 sq. ft maintenance facility.

As a Maintenance Superintendent at First Nickel Inc. and St. Andrews his main goals were to build and maintain a safe working environment. Some of his responsibilities included long and short-term planning, develop KPI’s, cost managing, implement systems/process, supervising, preparing and implementing maintenance budgets. Eddy also spent twenty-eight years with Kidd Creek Mine in a multiple of departments and was an integral part of the negotiating team for the CAW collective agreement at FNI.
