India's SAIL sees 30% jump in coking coal imports post expansion

Steel Authority of India could see an up to 30% rise in its coking coal imports to 13-million tonnes post capacity expansion, its spokeswoman said. SAIL, with an annual capacity of about 14-million tonnes, is the largest steel producer in India, but lags Tata Steel's global capacity of about 27-million tonnes.

Freeport, Plains sweeten takeover deal with dividends

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc and Plains Exploration together sweetened the miner's roughly $6-billion takeover bid for Plains by around 8% by offering to pay two special dividends if shareholders approve the deal. The dividends effectively increase the amount Plains Exploration & Production Co shareholders would receive by $3.65 in cash and stock, bringing their haul in line with the original $50 a share bid Freeport made in December.

Randgold secures ‘attractive’ $200m revolving loan

London- and Nasdaq-listed Randgold Resources has entered into an unsecured $200-million revolving credit facility with bankers HSBC, Barclays, Citibank and Standard Chartered, for “general corporate purposes”. HSBC acted as the sole bookrunner on the facility with the other banks acting as mandated lead arrangers.
